Game of Thrones: I didn't realize how much I missed the Dothraki
Hands-down — this Game of Thrones premiere was the best so far!
Granted, I probably say this with every season premiere. After all, the start of a new Game of Thrones season feels like Christmas morning — a Christmas morning that lasts for two months of glory.
But this season premiere was a little different than what we've seen in the past. At least, that's how it felt to me. We picked up right in the heart of the action, since last season left us with so many cliffhangers.
One story line pickup I especially didn't expect was Daenerys' time with the Dothraki tribe. I expected her to be treated poorly, but once they found out she was Drogo's widow, she was immediately respected. I found myself missing the good ol' days of Season 1.
Not to mention, apparently I'm an 11-year-old at heart and found the Dothraki sex jokes almost as amusing as Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) sex jokes. There's good potential for some Season 6 fan-favorite characters in that bunch. Especially that cute curly-haired one that reminded me a little bit of a Dothraki Jon Snow. Amiright?
What if the Dothraki join up with Daenerys to take over Westeros? Now there's some powerful allies!
Of course, we have to talk about Jon Snow too. Who is still very much dead. And uh, it's not OK. I'm thinking that Melisandre's creepy old lady transformation is going to somehow tie into Jon Snow's comeback from the dead. But I could be reaching here. Please, please don't let Jon Snow be gone for good! I can't take it! One episode down, though, and it's still very much a possibility, which is making me more than a little nervous.
What I am excited for, however, is Davos' grand takedown of Thorne and his men. Don't underestimate Davos in the badass department, that's for sure.
Speaking of badasses, this is a heavy side note about the slaughter that was Dorne. I really can't wait for Jaime and Cersei (Lena Headey) to unleash their parental wrath on Ellaria. Her she-minions are mean. And it's not OK.
All in all, I was enthralled, captivated, could not pull my eyes away from the screen, in love with this episode. Guys, Season 6 is gonna be good.
Not that I had any doubt.
