Teen Mom 2's Jo Rivera is engaged, but the ring's getting all the attention
Teen Mom 2's Jo Rivera and Vee Torres are engaged, but her gorgeous engagement ring is earning the couple fewer "congratulations" and more skepticism.
Rivera proposed to Torres over the weekend with a stunning engagement ring that, from the looks of it, cost the reality TV star a pretty penny. Yet, Rivera has complained about not having any money on Teen Mom 2 and even went so far as to argue with his ex Kailyn Lowry about child support last September on an episode of the show.
Of course, since that outburst on the show, Rivera could have gotten his act together. But I'm just not sure how he goes from crying broke to affording a rock like the one he gave Torres in less than a year's time.
And I'm not the only one wondering why Rivera is complaining about child support but gifting Torres with a hefty ring.
Even Lowry's husband Javi Marroquin accused Rivera of simply being lazy, "He bought a house, he has money, tell him to stop being cheap. He’s lazy," he told Lowry during the September episode. "He doesn’t want to get a job. He’s just playing us so he doesn’t have to pay that money. You don’t have anything to feel bad about."
If that ring is any indication, then Marroquin was right.
After all, it's not like MTV isn't paying the reality TV stars for their time on the show. According to Wetpaint, a 2011 estimate of the Teen Mom paychecks indicates that cast members make between $3,000 and $5,000 per episode. And those estimates are five years old, which means there's a good chance that number is much higher now.
Rather than wondering how Rivera can afford to give Torres such a gorgeous ring, we should in turn be wondering why he tried to skimp Lowry out of child support.
