Over the years, all the Teen Mom stars have been through emotional turmoil that has played out on MTV’s hit show, but for Teen Mom 2‘s Kailyn Lowry, the latest season of the show was by far the hardest.
Teen Mom 2 Season 7 will premiere on Monday, and while Lowry is apprehensive to relive all of the lows she experienced during the time of filming, she spoke to People magazine about how she was able to overcome her grief.
“MTV and the producers were very sensitive to the situation and just understood that I wasn’t necessarily ready to talk about it as soon as it happened,” Lowry said of her miscarriage (which happened barely six months ago). “They kind of just gave me my time to grieve, and when I was ready and felt like I was comfortable talking about it, I did.”
Of course, sharing such a deeply personal moment with the world could not have been an easy decision, but Lowry decided to speak about her miscarriage in the hopes that she could help bring comfort to other women who had been through a similar situation.
“I know that there are people that are going to talk about it, but I think at the end of the day, I’m going to help more people by [being open] about it, so that’s what kind of keeps me going through the whole thing,” she told the publication.
It’s also encouraging to know that Lowry has been overwhelmed with support from people who can relate, and who have been through the same situation. But she revealed that even those who can’t relate have still been “very sympathetic towards the situation.”
Lowry has not healed yet, but she has a very positive outlook and believes that everything happens for a reason.
“I like to think that everything kind of happened for a reason — I’m not really sure what the reason was yet for that, but I’m just constantly reminding myself that there was a reason why this happened,” she explained. “So, I don’t know, I guess we’ll see how everything plays out when I rewatch it.”
Lowry’s honesty and openness with her life is one of the reasons she’s so endearing to so many, and we applaud her for her bravery in speaking about something so deeply personal.
