Two weeks after Joey Feek’s death, her husband, Rory, is sharing how the youngest member of the family, 2-year-old Indiana, is dealing with the tragedy.
In a touching photo posted to Instagram, Rory showed little Indy sitting at her father’s feet next to the kitchen counter.
“Somebody won’t leave her papa’s side,” Rory captioned the adorable shot of pigtail-wearing Indiana, sitting spread-eagle on the kitchen floor.
Joey died March 4 at age 40, passing peacefully at her Indiana home, according to Rory, after a long fight against cervical cancer.
“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven,” Rory wrote on his blog at the time. “The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her Savior.”
According to People magazine, Rory and Indiana have returned to the Feeks’ Tennessee farm after attending a memorial in Joey’s hometown of Alexandria, Indiana.
“[This was] the same place where Joey had played basketball and volleyball and cheered for her home team,” he wrote in his blog about the memorial, which was held at Joey’s old high school. “I know my wife would’ve found a way to see the beauty in this sad day.”
The Feeks, who made up the country music duo Joey+Rory, documented most of Joey’s cancer battle in Rory’s blog, where fans kept up with the family’s touching journey leading up to Joey’s final days.
