Iggy Azalea opens up about her difficult, out-of-control year
Iggy Azalea is finally opening up about the real reason she canceled her Great Escape tour in 2015. Azalea's team first postponed the tour from April until September last year, before scrapping it entirely.
During June 2015, Azalea told Seventeen magazine it was because she had a "different creative change of heart." While chatting with Schön! Magazine, the "Fancy" rapper admitted that wasn't the whole story.
"I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year," Azalea told the magazine. "I felt tired and stressed out."
"Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of me. It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was. You don't want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain," Azalea continued. "Then I just realized that, you know what, you can't control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life."
Azalea says she still doesn’t know how she'll find time to embark on a tour and get married to her fiancé, basketball player Nick Young.
"See? It's too much stuff! I've got to have a wedding and go on a f***ing honeymoon and... put on an arena tour, all across the whole world," Azalea said.
Azalea's brand new single "Team" drops on Friday, March 18. The rapper told fans on Twitter that she's "hype" — aka super excited — to release the track, because it's been over a year since she's officially released any new music.
Azalea also revealed that she'll be performing "Team" live for the first time on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon next week.
