Game of Thrones cast bands together to support Syrian refugees (VIDEO)
The Game of Thrones cast is doing more than gearing up for the Season 6 premiere. They have also banded together to support an amazing cause.
Before the premiere, the show will be supporting the Rescue Has No Boundaries movement, which is a "campaign to bring attention to the global refugee crisis and raise emergency funds to help rescue the millions of people displaced by conflict and natural disaster," according to a statement.
Game of Thrones stars Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Liam Cunningham, DeObia Oparei, John Bradley, Tom Wlaschiha, Eugene Simon and Oona Chaplin are all supporting the effort.
The International Rescue Committee is sponsoring the campaign with HBO and Game of Thrones. The committee "responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic well-being and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster," also according to the statement.
"We are currently facing the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II," President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee David Miliband said. "Our partnership with HBO and Game of Thrones — which premiered around the same time the war in Syria began — hopes to galvanize the general public to take action and rise up for refugees."
People around the world looking to support the cause along with the cast can donate as little as $10 from March 15 to April 5, 2016. Not only does this campaign support an amazing cause, but the Game of Thrones cast will also be making one fan's dream come true. One person who donates will be randomly selected to attend the Season 6 premiere and party with the cast.
