Former RHOBH star divorces her husband of 13 years
The reality TV curse has struck again: A Real Housewives alum is splitting from her husband after a long marriage, but she dropped hints about the breakup years ago.
Former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Marisa Zanuck dropped a major hint that the marriage was suffering when she appeared on the show during Season 3 and said her hubby, Dean Zanuck, was not her type.
It seems she really meant that: According to TMZ, Marisa filed divorce papers in Los Angeles last month. She is asking for joint custody of their two young sons, aged 11 and 13.
Marisa's run on RHOBH was short-lived. She appeared on just one season, introduced as a friend of Kyle Richards', and quickly ran afoul of two powerful costars.
First, she basically called Lisa Vanderpump two-faced in an interview.
"She does have this thing about her — a lot of the other girls see it, too — where she'll be nice on camera to you but then she won't talk to you or engage with you if you're at another party but we're not shooting," she told All Things Real Housewives.
She later ran afoul of Yolanda Foster after an ill-fated trip to Las Vegas when she made the mistake of blogging about one incident in particular and placed Foster in a less-than-flattering light.
"I spilled red wine on my dress, which was enough to shift the energy temporarily. Most of the women were helpful and that was very sweet, but Yolanda just gave me a disapproving stare," she wrote on her Bravo blog. "Not sure where that came from. All I could think was 'Thank God I didn't spill that red wine at Yolanda's house because if it upset her in Vegas, I would really be up shit's creek in Malibu.'
"Maybe Yolanda has never spilled a drink before, which wouldn't surprise me since her life is so pristine and perfect that it just wouldn't fit in with her image. That said, I am admittedly clumsy and this won't be the last time I spill a drink."
Even her relationship with Richards suffered and she announced on Twitter in 2013 that her former bestie had unfollowed her on social media — something Richards said was completely accidental. Marisa later deleted her tweets.
While drama is usually welcome on RHOBH, the rifts did affect Marisa's employability and she did not return for Season 4.
"I wasn't asked back. It's as simple as that and I'm OK with it," she told Celebuzz.
Now its her turn to do the rejecting, as apparently her husband was not asked back for another "season" of the marriage.
Dean is the son of famed Hollywood producer Richard D. Zanuck, who made such iconic films as Driving Miss Daisy, Jaws and six Tim Burton movies. Dean himself has been an executive at The Zanuck Company for 13 years and is behind such films as Reign of Fire, Road to Perdition and Get Low.
