Bure, who is well known for her conservative Christian values, is involved in some scenes for the show that have elicited a negative response from her more conservative fans. The criticism seemed to come to a head when Bure posted a photo to Instagram, showing herself and her co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber all wearing club dresses.
Bure’s dress is by far the skimpiest in the photo, baring plenty of cleavage and exposing her legs all the way to her upper thighs.
On the Instagram post, disappointed fans took to the comments to express their feelings about Bure’s dress, which one commenter called “lingerie.”
“I thought she stands for Christian values,” one commenter wrote on the now-deleted post, according to Christian Today. Another wrote, “Seriously though! I am so sad! I thought @Candacecbure stands up for Christian values?!?! This makes me so sad. I can’t let my kids watch this, is this how you dress?”
Bure didn’t address the criticism from her fans, but did quietly remove the photo from her Instagram account.
It’s not the first time Bure has been questioned for supposedly defying her Christian values. In 2014, she responded to criticism in a blog post, explaining some of the difficulties of being a conservative Christian woman in Hollywood.
“‘I’m too religious, I’m not Godly enough, I’m too thin now, I’m not very humble, I’ve had too much plastic surgery, My brother Kirk is a better Christian than me, I’m too worldly, I’m too conservative, I’m not modest enough, I’m a show-off,'” she wrote at the time. “Those are just a few of the types of comments I get no matter what I share, what photo I post or what I say.”
Regardless of Bure’s beliefs — and what her fans think — there’s definitely nothing wrong with a woman showing a little skin if she wants to. And Bure has worked so hard to be in ah-mazing shape, she deserves to love her body however she sees fit — even in a short dress.
