The Bachelor's Emily Maynard Johnson shares her biggest parenting fears
The Bachelor's Emily Maynard Johnson opened up for the first time about her new life — as a wife and mother to a new baby boy. In her blog, Johnson reveals that it wasn’t all excitement when she found out she was pregnant. She spent a lot of time worrying about how bringing a new child into her family would make her 10-year-old daughter, Ricki, feel.
We all remember how important Ricki was to Johnson’s decision-making during her season of The Bachelorette so it’s no surprise that she thought constantly about whether or not the arrival of her son would change her relationship with Ricki. She spent 10 years focusing all of her attention on Ricki and now she would have to split it between two kids. That’s not an easy transition for anyone to make.
And at the beginning, there were some causes for concern — it definitely wasn’t all perfect. Johnson admits that the first few months were rough. She wondered if she’d ever “sleep, shower or have a conversation again” just like every new mom. And on top of that, she had to juggle the feelings of her daughter, who definitely needed time to adjust to the new dynamics.
Luckily, Johnson says, “Jennings has brought so much joy and happiness into our house that the good far outweighs the bad.” Ricki even waits outside his door for him to wake up. How cute is that?
Johnson, along with her husband Tyler, is raising her new family of four in South Carolina, where the couple was married in June 2014. And although there are struggles to raising two children with very different needs, the reality star knows that the rewards of having a second child “far exceed any fears” she ever had.
Sounds like she’s got everything figured out!
