The Originals‘ boss reveals Elijah & Hayley’s fate after [SPOILER]’s death

The Originals was definitely a heartbreaker last week, but the blows are far from over.

Executive producer, Michael Narducci, explained that just because Jackson is dead doesn’t mean Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will be able to simply pick up where they left off.

“Hayley is getting messed up by being close to this family,” Narducci said, adding that the threads of The Original family’s destruction and the affect on others is a theme of this season with Cami, Aurora, Tristan and Davina all factoring in to that storyline.

And while Jackson and Hayley may not have started out with a deep and passionate love for one another, they found happiness together over the course of their marriage. And her grief is sure to be quite a force on the show for the rest of the season.

“There is anger, pain, denial and acceptance in the grieving process that she has to go through,” Narducci revealed. “We’ll see the burgeoning friendship between Hayley and Cami. We’ll see some really beautiful scenes between Hayley and Elijah, in the aftermath of this, with him trying to comfort her and her wanting to accept that comfort, but knowing it’s wrong, given their past and the feelings that they have toward one another.”

As much as I want Elijah and Hayley to be each other’s end game, even I need a breather after Jackson’s tragic death. And it really was tragic. I know I’ve been anticipating his death ever since Narducci explained that we hadn’t seen the last of the Elijah and Hayley romance, but it still hit me right in my heart. Not only had Jackson and Hayley’s relationship grown on me, but actor Nathan Parsons was just awesome in the role — and definitely a fun addition to the show.

But just because he’s dead and gone, doesn’t mean we won’t still feel the threads of him in the rest of this season.

“It’s going to get worse before it gets better,” Narducci warned.

He added, “Once the dust settles, and she [Hayley] manages to be through with her grieving, there will be a pretty definitive and harsh response, on her part, to get back at those responsible for what happened. That’s a very empowered character I like watching.”

I think we can all agree that feisty Hayley is always fun to watch, even though grieving Hayley has us reaching for the tissues right along with her.

It was time for Jackson to go but that doesn’t mean I’m excited to see him leave.

The Originals is all new tonight on The CW.

Are you sad to see Jackson leave The Originals or was it his time to go?
