Some fans are still reeling from Zayn Malik's dramatic departure from One Direction but Malik has proven that he's definitely moved on from his boy band days, thanks to his latest single "Pillow Talk."

The first offering from Malik has just dropped and the lyrics, including "F***ing you and fighting on, it's our paradise and it's our war zone. In your bed all day, bed all day, bed all day," are a far cry from his 1D days. And while the beat may have you tapping your feet, it's the video that has really caught our eye.

It's three minutes and 27 seconds of lusty confusion — another nod to Malik and how he is trying to shed his good boy image for something, shall we say, much more sexualised.

Below are eight thoughts we had while watching the video.

1. He is definitely romancing Gigi Hadid

Either that or there is some serious acting happening here.

2. That strategically placed lotus makes us feel so awkward

3. Who cries black tears?

4. And why are Gigi Hadid's made of blood?

5. So. Much. Nudity.

6. Spikes

We get that the song is about relationships and sex —in fact, it's rumoured to have been written about former fiancée Perrie Edwards — but what is the point of the woman with spikes all over her face?

7. The visual imagery is so confusing (and blurry).

8. What is happening with these tiny little Zayns?

Say what you want about the single, one person who is clearly happy with the results is Malik himself, who has eagerly promoted it on social media.
