Kris Jenner mocked for her hypocritical attempt at communication
Whether they're snapping selfies or texting their BFFs, the gals of Keeping up with the Kardashians just can't get enough of their phones. Kris Jenner shares this problem, but she'd much rather nitpick her daughters than change her own behavior.
The Kardashian media empire has spawned several phone apps and games that have made the clan millions of dollars and helped to spread their influence and fame throughout the world. However, if it was up to matriarch Kris Jenner, the entire Kardashian family would spend a lot less time glued to their iPhones and more time actually conversing with each other in the physical world.
Kris finally decided to put her foot down during this week's episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, and, despite the protests of both Kim and Khloé Kardashian, she scheduled a meeting with a "communication professional." Kim immediately dismissed the idea as "the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life," which isn't surprising since she spends every second of every episode glued to her phone. Khloé astutely called out Jenner for her own phone usage; as Khloé pointed out, Kris is usually the last person to put away her phone at dinner.
Although it's easy to see how the Kardashians' constant phone usage could be annoying, there are two sides to every story. For Kim and Khloé, it's not all about iPhone addiction; there's also a professional element. Life as a reality star means being connected to fans at all times. With Kim and Khloé both having official apps, in which they provide fans with constant updates on everything going on in their lives, it can be difficult for them to unplug from the social media universe in which they thrive. That being said, Kris Jenner makes a good point: It's best to take occasional breaks from texting and tweeting and instead hang out with family members in the real world.
Despite her words of wisdom, Kris ultimately proved Khloé's assertions about her hypocrisy correct: She didn't bother to show up to the meeting she arranged! Viewers had plenty to say about this, and as usual, most were quick to point fingers at Kris Jenner.
Perhaps, if Kris Jenner wants her children to be more present and less invested in their mobile devices, she should set a good example. Nagging her kids won't accomplish anything, but she just might make a difference by taking a close look at her own behavior.
