KUWTK reveals Kourtney & Kim Kardashian's reaction to Lamar Odom's overdose
For months, fans of the Kardashian family have been waiting for Keeping up with the Kardashians to address Lamar Odom's near-death experience. Tonight, these viewers were disappointed to see the show instead focusing on Kim and Kourtney Kardashian's complete indifference to the plight of their former brother-in-law.
Producers at E! made the right call when they decided to keep the cameras away as Lamar fought for his life. Instead of showing the craziness in the hospital, Keeping up with the Kardashians took two weeks off and instead highlighted its aftermath. Included were multiple scenes featuring a very worried Kris Jenner, who was just as stressed about the whole situation as her daughter Khloe.
Khloe and Kris may have been incredibly concerned about Lamar's health, but the same cannot exactly be said for Kim and Kourtney, who instead carried on with business as usual. For Kim, it was all about her pregnancy. Her rapidly growing baby bump was the center of attention at a surprise party thrown by Kanye West. However, it was by no means the only bump in the room; all guests were required to dress up as if they were also pregnant.
In light of Lamar's issues, Kim's party felt a bit tactless. No, not everybody needs to suddenly cancel all their plans and act glum when a former family member winds up in the hospital, but a little more discretion on Kim and Kourtney's part would have been nice. Kris was preoccupied with Lamar's situation the entire time, and at no point did her daughters bother to comfort her. She certainly could have used a few kind words, especially as she was forced to spend part of the party talking to her lawyer about what would happen if Lamar were to be charged with a drug offense.
The Twitter responses to tonight's episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians varied wildly, with some viewers showing support for Khloe, and others expressing their disdain upon witnessing Kim and Kourtney's lack of sympathy. In general, viewers tended to have good things to say about Khloe and not-so-good things to say about her older sisters.
There's nothing wrong with getting excited about a new baby on the way, but it's also important to acknowledge those who are going through tough times. If the situation were reversed and Kanye was in the hospital, Kim would expect Khloe to show her support. Then again, the golden rule doesn't seem to apply to Kim.
