Teen Mom gears up to cast new girls in another country
Just when you thought you'd seen all the drama, tears and heartache that you could from MTV's hit show Teen Mom, the franchise decides to take it to a whole new level.
Teen Mom is getting a British twist, as MTV recently announced their plans to launch Teen Mom UK.
There have been a lot of American shows adapted for UK audiences, and Jill Offman, MTV UK's managing director, recently told Us Weekly what we can expect from the Teen Mom reinvention.
"MTV UK has a great track record of re-versioning hit shows from our sister channel in the U.S. — we turned Jersey Shore into Geordie Shore and smashed ratings records in the process," Offman said in a statement. "We'll use this expertise to give Teen Mom a fresh lease [on] life, combined with a unique British twist, which we’re confident will have massive appeal to local audiences."
The announcement was made just hours ago, so no further details have been revealed about the girls who will star on the show (but we expect they will be just as dramatic as the Teen Mom OGs).
What we do know, though, is that True North Production is being entrusted with the project.
"True North is delighted to be entrusted with making the U.K. version of Teen Mom," True North Production's Fiona O'Sullivan said in a press release. "We've [had] a long and fruitful relationship with MTV and have had previous success working together, so we look forward to getting to work on this project to make more 'appointment to view' TV."
