You know what the world needs more of? Duggar children. Well, that’s what Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar think. According to a few reports, the Duggar matriarch and patriarch are thinking of adding another little bundle to their brood this year. But since Michelle and Jim Bob haven’t had pregnancy luck in the past few years (one pregnancy sadly ending in miscarriage), which route will they take?
A new report from InTouch and Life & Style (so, grain of salt please) is claiming that Michelle and Jim Bob are interested in adopting a baby in 2016. A source close to the family said, “They’ve been mulling it over for a long time, and they feel the time is right to get legal advice and get the process underway.” Apparently, Michelle doesn’t care if the baby is a boy or girl, or what ethnicity the child is, she just wants to help a child out.
Of course, it’s incredibly admirable of Michelle and Jim Bob to want to help a child who isn’t fortunate and give them a better life than they currently have, but let’s not forget that Michelle and Jim Bob themselves would love another child, as well. So, it wouldn’t be a complete act of selflessness. “I would be so grateful if the Lord blessed us with another one,” Michelle said in a 2013 interview. “Saying there are too many children is like saying there are too many flowers.”
While, true, there really isn’t such a thing as too many flowers, there is such a thing as droughts. And lack of sunshine. And soil that help the flowers grow. OK, while the analogy may not be working, the point is: How many kids is too many kids? Michelle clearly doesn’t think there’s such a thing, but, um, is there? Other people might say so.
No doubt, the Duggars have been through a hell of a year. Thanks to their eldest son, Josh, and his awful, sickening fall from grace, many people have turned against the Duggars — including TLC, the network that canceled their show. While it’s only natural to search for some comfort in their lives, it’s hard to say if another baby is going to provide that and “fix” things — whether the baby is through adoption or pregnancy.
Hopefully, in the upcoming year, the Duggar family will be able to find some peace in their lives and answers to all of the questions Josh has left them with. Whether this peace will be with a baby or without is up to them. Here’s hoping everything works out for them.
