Scandal's Scott Foley revealed that things might not be over for Jake and Olivia just yet despite where they're currently at in Season 5.

During an interview with TVLine, Foley revealed that Jake is "done for now". But that doesn't mean that eventually, somewhere down the road, there isn't a path that leads to a Jake and Olivia happily ever after.

"I so respect him for saying what he did and telling her that she's become the woman her father always wanted her to be," Foley explained. "I think there's a large portion of the audience that felt that way and no one had said it to her, so I was so proud of him for basically calling her out on years of s***. And yes, it took this catalyst of letting her father out of jail, but it was something that needed to be said."

The interviewer added that maybe after time and a lot of groveling from Olivia, Jake might say yes to coffee, and Foley agreed. But, "she buys," he added.

Foley laughed at the suggestion of the two of them properly dating in the future, saying, "That’s what we need to do. 'Oh, my god — I swipe right, and there's Olivia Pope!'"

Maybe by Season 7 that could be a possibility?

Right now, I think that Jake did the right thing walking away from her. She can't have her cake and eat it, too, and that's what she was trying to get away with in the first half of Season 5. Jake was right to finally stand up for himself and recognize that he is worth more than that. He deserves happiness with someone who has no doubt that she wants to be with him.

Plus, I think the only reason Olivia kept going back to Jake is because she felt insecure about her relationship with Fitz. Things between them got so complicated in the midseason finale that there is a lot those two have to work out before we can even consider how Jake fits in.

Olivia and Fitz have just always seemed to me like the endgame of the show. I don't see Olivia walking away from it all and choosing Jake. But I also don't see her settling into the domestic life at the White House. So where does that leave her? I have a good feeling showrunner Shonda Rhimes knows exactly where. And for now, I am happy to put my faith in her and watch the rest of the season unfold.

Do you think Jake and Olivia will end up together or are Olivia and Fitz destined to make things work?
