Friends fans, rejoice!
For those of us who have been shipping Cox and Perry ever since Monica and Chandler became a thing, there may be good news: Rumor has it the two stars are officially dating.
According to Star magazine, Cox, who recently ended her engagement to Snow Patrol front man Johnny McDaid, turned to Perry, who’s been single since his split from Lizzy Caplan in 2012, for a shoulder to cry on post-breakup. The magazine reports that that platonic support quickly took a turn for the romantic.
“It’s no surprise that Matthew was one of the first people Courteney called when she ended the engagement,” a source close to the reported new couple told the magazine. “They’ve leaned on each other before, during her infertility struggle and his battle with addiction.”
But though the two have been friends ever since they played friends on the small screen, things have never progressed past friendship between them… until now.
“Matthew invited her over to talk one night, and they ended up hooking up!” the insider shared.
Friends ended in 2004, and die-hard fans have been wishing for more since then. Since newlywed Jennifer Aniston doesn’t seem likely to hook up with David Schwimmer anytime soon, this may be the answer to Friends fans’ prayers, even though Star says Cox and Perry are unlikely to take their relationship public anytime soon.
“There isn’t any pressure to put a label on it yet, but they’re excited to see where this might go,” the magazine’s source said.
