Tamar Braxton's health crisis was even scarier than we thought
Tamar Braxton's health scare was a whole lot scarier than we realized.
After weeks of recovery, Braxton finally returned to her talk show, The Real, this week. On her first episode back, she revealed all the scary details behind the medical condition that forced her to quit her successful run on Dancing with the Stars and take a long hiatus from her show.
A special segment on Wednesday's comeback show, narrated by Tamera Mowry, went into detail about the scary situation: Braxton had to have a rib surgically removed to cure her medical problems.
"Tamar’s medical tests reveal she isn’t suffering from pneumonia but instead, a much more serious medical condition: pulmonary embolism. Tamar has blood clots in both of her lungs. The very next day, Tamar announces she is leaving Dancing with the Starsand must take time away from The Real, which is the beginning of what will become a long, often harrowing medical journey," Mowry explained during the episode.
Mowry revealed that Braxton was sent home on strict orders for bed rest after blood thinners broke down the clots in her lungs. But only a week after her release from the hospital, doctors made the decision to call her back to remove the rib, relieving pressure on her lungs that caused the clots.
It was originally reported that Braxton was suffering from pneumonia, and after her sudden exit from DWTS, it was revealed she had blood clots in both her lungs.
Now, OK! magazine reports, Braxton is back to hosting The Real, promoting her latest album and filming the reality show she stars in with her husband.
