The brother of Minaj has been arrested, and the charges he faces are absolutely horrifying.
Jelani Maraj, the older brother of Minaj, was arrested on charges of raping a child, a source told Newsday.
Maraj was arraigned on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual contact against a child, with the source adding that the victim was just 12 years old.
“The victim was someone he had access to,” another insider told the New York Daily News.
Minaj and Maraj are by all accounts extremely close, and Minaj even footed the bill for her brother’s $30,000 wedding to bride Jacqueline Robinson last August at the Coral House on Milburn Lake in Baldwin, New York.

“Jelani, I love you more than you’ll ever comprehend,” she wrote on an August Instagram photo from the wedding.
“I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will. I love my brother so much man,” she continued. “Can’t believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union. Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brother smile.”
Maraj was freed from the Nassau county jail on $100,000 bond. He is due back in court on Dec. 9.

Minaj recently won two American Music Awards, bringing her career total to six. “I know this award is about fans voting,” she said of her Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop win. “PinkPrint was the hardest album I ever had to do, be a part of, perform onstage every night.” Thank you, she said, for “allowing me to change… You have to find your voice and find your purpose before it’s too late.”
Minaj has not yet commented on her brother’s serious legal woes.
