If Vicki Gunvalson would just stop talking lately, she could totally win everyone over. After all, it was her awful (ex-)boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, not her, who forged medical records that indicated (lied?) that he had cancer. But, ever since Ayers’ gross dishonesty has come to light, Gunvalson seems to be repeatedly inserting her foot into her mouth.
On Monday, Gunvalson appeared on Watch What Happens Live, and, of course, Andy Cohen brought up Ayers and the whole cancer debacle — no surprise there. But, things took a turn for the odd when Gunvalson’s ex-husband, Donn, became the subject of discussion. As it turns out, Gunvalson wishes she was still with him. What?!
After being asked about her husband of 19 years, Gunvalson said, “I think if I had to do it all over again, I would not have divorced Donn. I know that for a fact. In hindsight, if we could do things differently … He was a great man [and] great husband.”
During Part 3 of the reunion for The Real Housewives of Orange County, it came out — thanks to Tamra Judge — that Gunvalson left her husband to care for a “sick” Ayers. Gunvalson filed for divorce in 2010.
It’s pretty unbelievable that Gunvalson is making claims like this right now — even if she does truly believe them. It’s one thing to have regrets, but it’s quite another to tell a talk show host that you miss your ex right after you and your other ex break up. And after you’ve been bad-mouthing your first ex! (Let’s not forget how many times Gunvalson mentioned how much money Donn was getting from her after their divorce.)
It’s actually really sad that this is what things have come to. If Donn was such a great husband, why did she leave him in the first place? Hopefully, Gunvalson will find her peace sometime in the near future, because from the looks of things, she’s been on one hell of a roller coaster over the past few years.
It’s doubtful that Gunvalson will get back with her ex-husband, but hey, stranger things have happened. The best thing for her right now is to stay single for a bit and work on herself.
And of course, stay far, far away from Ayers.
