DWTS has a never-before-seen solution to Tamar Braxton's unexpected exit
What will happen on Dancing with the Stars following Tamar Braxton’s withdrawal?
According to People magazine, producers for the hit ABC reality dance competition considered “all possibilities,” including bringing back recently eliminated star Alexa PenaVega. The site reveals, however, that producers will be taking a never-before-seen approach to Braxton’s unexpected exit.
On this Monday’s show, People reports, only the four remaining couples will compete. In order to fill the time that would have been slotted for Braxton’s dance, two pairs will dance head-to-head.
According to People, Nick Carter and partner Sharna Burgess will dance a samba against Bindi Irwin and partner Derek Hough, while Alek Skarlatos and partner Lindsay Arnold will dance a cha-cha against Carlos PenaVega and partner Witney Carson.
The dance-offs will be scored and each winning couple will be awarded three points toward their score for the night.
The site also reports that there is no official decision about whether a couple will be eliminated on Monday’s episode.
Meanwhile, Braxton is recovering from blood clots in her lungs that forced her to withdraw suddenly from the show earlier this week, after missing Monday’s live show.
"With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem," Braxton explained on Instagram. "After yesterday's final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious that is having several P.E.'s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs) (sic)."
Braxton was the second star to exit this season due to health problems; Kim Zolciak withdrew early on after suffering a mini-stroke.
