It’s that magical time of year again.
For those who can’t get enough of the needlessly extravagant, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Gift Guide offers a level of excitement that rivals that of the holiday season itself. From $956 toilet paper to a $46,000 Hermes mah-jongg set, this year’s Goop guide offers gift-buying advice for anyone who has more cash than sense.
OK, so the entire gift guide isn’t that outlandish. It actually offers suggestions for gifts in all price ranges, but this year it also includes the “Ridiculous (And Awesome)” section, which is just Paltrow trolling us all by listing some of the most expensive nonsense that can be found on the Internet.
The “Ridiculous (And Awesome)” items range from a $42 condom dispenser (that is literally a small metal box to keep your love gloves in) and a $244 chrome toothpaste squeezer, to a $90,000 space exploration package from Neiman Marcus (yes, really) and $125,000 18-carat gold dumbbells. Paltrow has really outdone herself this year.
While some people got on board with the joke, others seem to have lost their sense of humor along with their holiday spirit. Reactions to the guide on social media ranged from plain confusion to outright disdain.

But while Goop’s Gift Guide definitely may leave us all scratching our heads at times, it’s definitely worth perusing. You never know when you’ll find that expensive, useless item you can’t live without this holiday season, like the “Darwin Tank” in-home jellyfish habitat. Just try to tell us that wasn’t already on your Christmas list.
