Tamar Braxton releases statement regarding DWTS exit and her health crisis
Tamar Braxton has officially resigned from Dancing With the Stars following a rocky few weeks as she battled not just in the competition, but also with her health.
Braxton took to Instagram to share the sad news and also reveal some startling information that she didn't have pneumonia after all.
"With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem," Braxton explained. "After yesterday's final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious that is having several P.E.'s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs)."
This is the second time this season that DWTS has lost one of its stars because of health reasons. Kim Zolciak was disqualified at the beginning of the season because she had a ministroke that left her unable to perform.
Braxton was able to tough it out this week and appear on the show, despite being so sick that doctors counseled against it, which kept her from being disqualified from the competition.
At the time, her partner Val Chmerkovskiy praised her dedication, telling E! News, "It's clear what drives people, right? And for her, what drives her to be on the show isn't the check, she got that, isn't anything but her camaraderie with me and the relationship she built with me and to see her reciprocate everything I've done for her and gather herself and risk a lot of things, including health to be here, that speaks volumes to the type of person she is."
And Braxton echoed his statements in her Instagram statement, explaining, "As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one's way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle."
She was also sure to thank her fans and Chmerkovskiy, who she referred to as her "boo," for all the support as she fights to get better.
