Bill Cosby TV appearances that made everyone uncomfortable (VIDEO)
The media firestorm surrounding Bill Cosby has somewhat died down in recent months.
But the embattled comedian is making headlines again after a video resurfaced showing him awkwardly interviewing Sofía Vergara on The Late Show in 2003.
According to The Huffington Post, Cosby was filling in for regular host David Letterman at the time. To say his interview with Vergara, the first interview she ever did on American TV, is uncomfortable would be a major understatement.
Cosby starts the interview by inappropriately commenting on Vergara’s dress. He then sits next to her, leans in, and says, “S-I-N is sin.” Vergara looks at him uncomfortably as he continues, “Men look at you, and they only think of sin... Now, what you have on tonight is wonderful. This is wonderful. And when you walked out, many, uh, many people became attentive.”
Throughout the exchange, Vergara tries to laugh off Cosby’s remarks. But we can’t shrug off our own discomfort, especially when he adds, “You make me feel young again. You make me feel very, um, excited. Look at me.”
The newly rediscovered Vergara interview isn’t the only time Cosby’s made a TV appearance that was less than comfortable. Here are three others.
1. Cosby intimidates an Associated Press reporter
Since sexual assault allegations started piling up against Cosby last year, reporters looked to the comedian for an explanation. The way Cosby bullies this AP reporter into editing out his remarks about the scandal is very uncomfortable.
2. Cosby jokes about Spanish fly
In a 1991 interview with Larry King, Cosby jokes about Spanish fly, a dangerous illegal substance used historically as an aphrodisiac.
“Spanish Fly was the thing that all boys from age 11 on up to death — we will still be searching for Spanish fly,” Cosby says.
He goes on to explain that all it takes is a single drop in a woman’s drink to make her “yours.” Yikes.
3. Cosby’s “special barbecue sauce”
Of course, since allegations against Cosby became national news, people have created video roundups of the comedian’s creepiest lines and moments on his sitcom The Cosby Show. But none beats the scene in which he talks about his “special barbecue sauce” and its effect on those who eat it.
