Blake Shelton's steal on The Voice might be his ticket to victory (VIDEO)
The Battle round on The Voice is all about tough decisions, but sometimes the coaches get it wrong. Fans certainly seem to think that was the case tonight, as many complained about Adam Levine's decision to ditch the talented Chance Peña.
A few early front-runners have already been identified on The Voice, although it's too soon to say who, exactly, will be the next Sawyer Fredericks. Several fans seem to think that Peña has what it takes to win the entire competition. If this is true, Levine has already tossed out his ticket to victory. The coach disappointed a number of viewers when he decided to keep Andi & Alex instead of Peña. Although these fans conceded that the duo sounded amazing, they felt that Peña was the natural choice for a Battle victory.
As is often the case for coaches on The Voice, Levine found it very difficult to choose a winner for tonight's Battle. When making this all-important decision, he likely factored in the unique nature of Andi & Alex's act. The gals certainly stand out! But do they have what it takes to emerge victorious? Duos don't tend to do all that well on the show, so Levine is taking a big risk by sticking with these two.
Peña's exceptional performance is particularly impressive in light of all the challenges he has had to overcome. Joining a duo is never easy and he could have very easily been overpowered by his blonde counterparts. Instead, he managed to complement them perfectly. If things don't work out on The Voice, these three could have a future as a Lady Antebellum-type act.
Levine conceded that Peña faced very difficult circumstances, but he still chose Andi & Alex. Several of the show's fans were quick to voice their disagreement with this decision. The following are just a few of the disappointed tweets that appeared after Levine made his final decision.
He may not have won his Battle, but this certainly isn't the end of the road for Peña. He scored a well-deserved spot on Team Blake, as well as the following piece of praise from his new coach: "I thought going into this [Battle] I would've picked Andi & Alex, but I would pick Chance in this one." Shelton also referred to Peña as "magical," a compliment that was clearly deserved. Watch the whole Battle, below!
