Kobe Bryant speaks out about Lamar Odom's condition
Kobe Bryant broke his silence on his former teammate Lamar Odom's condition on Friday morning.
In a tweet asking his followers to pray for Odom, Bryant included a message explaining that Odom's life is "hanging in the balance."
He also used the message to call out "insensitive suspicion," but he didn't specify the incident that led to him calling out those who "question the support of others."
Most likely, he is referring to the fact that some have viewed Odom's overdose at a brothel as unseemly and of his own doing.
Odom has been unconscious at a Las Vegas hospital since he was discovered at the Love Ranch on Tuesday night. He had reportedly overdosed on herbal Viagra and cocaine.
Shortly after the news of Odom's condition spread, Bryant left a preseason game at the MGM Grand Garden Arena to visit Odom in the hospital. The two played together for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Odom's children, Destiny, 17, and Lamar Jr., 13, also released a statement regarding their father.
"Thanks for your outpouring of prayers and support for our dad," they said. "We are here with our family and friends. We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy at this time. We ask for your continued prayers."
Though Khloé Kardashian and Odom had signed divorce papers, the end of their marriage has yet to be made official, which means Kardashian is still responsible for his medical decisions while he is unconscious.
Just this morning, E! News reported that doctors are preparing the family for the potential possibility that Odom has brain damage. The longer Odom stays unconscious, the more likely permanent impairment is, including the inability or trouble with functions such as speaking, walking and swallowing.
Odom's condition remains critical.
