Manzo'd with Children: Materialism threatens Lauren and Vito's marriage
Lauren Manzo is a bit of a bridezilla, but unfortunately, her entitled attitude probably won't end when she's married to Vito Scalia. Some Manzo'd with Children fans worry that her behavior will ultimately harm her marriage.
Lauren Manzo may know how to hang with the guys, but she can also be a huge girly girl — especially when she's trying on earrings. Last week, fans of Manzo'd with Children witnessed the chill side of Lauren that everybody loves, but this week, the focus was on the materialistic woman who is desperate to feel like a princess.
There's nothing wrong with wanting a little luxury for your wedding, but Lauren takes this to a whole new level. This was especially evident during a scene from tonight's episode of Manzo'd with Children, in which the bride-to-be obsessed at length about a very beautiful, but very expensive pair of earrings. The reality star joked that she was ready to trade in everything else about her wedding in order to score a little bling. Although this was said in jest, it only confirmed what critics have suspected for quite some time: Lauren is more interested in material goods than she is in building a strong marriage.
Vito seems to be at least somewhat aware of Lauren's expensive tastes, for, in addition to being chastised over his decision to buy a (gasp) sterling silver necklace, he has been warned that his gal could make his life very difficult by demanding to live in complete luxury. Older and wiser men have told him to put his foot down when Lauren is being ridiculous. But will he actually be able to follow through? Or will he give in to Lauren's demands and later feel resentful?
Twitter users have expressed their disappointment with Lauren's pre-wedding demeanor on multiple occasions, and they continued to do so tonight. The following are just a few of the negative responses to Lauren's spoiled behavior:
Vito Scalia is, for the most part, a good guy, although he admittedly has a few old-fashioned and very problematic ideas about the institution of marriage. But while he will do just about anything to make his bride happy, he may not be able to provide the lifestyle she wants. To be happy as a married woman, she will either need to lower her expectations, make some serious cash on her own or turn to her mom for spending money.
