The X Factor will be a much, much duller place without Sinitta

It’s almost time for the Judges’ Houses segment of The X Factor, but our excitement has lost its edge this year after hearing that Sinitta won’t be resuming her usual role as Simon Cowell’s right-hand woman/adviser.

The “So Macho” singer’s role in the reality TV show may have been only a small one, but she’s part of the furniture, goddammit!

Come on, Cowell, we’ve only just got over the loss of Dermot O’Leary. And now you’re replacing Sinitta with… Louis Tomlinson? According to RadioTimes, the X Factor boss has chosen Tomlinson to help him choose his acts for the live shows.

“Simon and Sinitta haven’t fallen out”, said a source. “They’re just trying something different this year. As part of it’s live, it’s a case of timings. We’re only going to see the contestants’ performances on location, as those decisions are being made back at Wembley. So there’s no time for all of those different critiques”.

Nothing against Tomlinson, but it’s just not going to be the same. Unless he rocks up in a palm leaf bikini…

Still, it’s good to know that Sinitta, 51, isn’t at home crying into her pillow. She made sure she turned heads at the National Reality TV Awards this week in a sheer dress over flesh-coloured underwear.

Which is basically why we love her so much. She doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks of her, and refuses to bow down to stereotypes about how women in their 50s should dress.

Whether that means pouring herself into hot pink leather jeans…

Yep, just underwear…

Sinitta’s style might not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s a total breath of fresh air when compared to the over-styled, catwalk-copy efforts of so many women on TV. She wears what she wants, and we hope she’ll still be doing it when she’s 80. This year’s Judges’ Houses will definitely be a duller place without her.
