Whoopi Goldberg's outburst could mean more changes on The View
Whoopi Goldberg is not a fan of certain changes taking place behind the scenes on The View — and she is making her displeasure known in a remarkably discomforting way.
The outspoken cohost is definitely known for speaking her mind, both on air and backstage, but a new report says that the actress and TV personality took things way too far recently and left producers begging her to stop.
The trouble started when an important meeting for the Hot Topics segment was moved to a time that she is not in the office.
"She was out of control. She paraded up and down the halls saying, 'I's a work for ABC who is my master. I's a slave to ABC. It's 12 Years a Whoopi at ABC,'" a source told the Daily Mail, saying Goldberg was referencing the movie 12 Years a Slave. "'I's just a n***** following orders around here, master!'"
Goldberg also has a big issue with the show's new consulting producer, Candi Carter. While Goldberg is not the only cohost who isn't a big fan of Carter's reportedly controlling ways, she has definitely been the most vocal about it.
"Upset at the changes that Candi has implemented in the show, and not liking the way Candi speaks to the talent, Whoopi blew up a few days ago," the source revealed. "She told Candi: 'I don't take orders from your ass. Stay in your lane like you did when you worked on The Oprah Winfrey Show.'
"'I'm contractually obligated to be here at 9am and you won't see me a minute earlier,'" she said.
As a compromise, the meeting is still held early with the other four cohosts present and an assistant briefs her when she arrives — and she DGAF what producers think of this arrangement.
"Whoopi is at the point where she couldn't care less and keeps reminding everyone that if they don't like her style, then pay her the rest of her money and send her home," the source said.
And that's exactly what could happen. "There's now a buzz backstage that ABC is going to let Whoopi work for the months of her existing contract until December and then not have her return after the holiday break," the insider revealed. "They would then shift Joy to the regular moderator post and bring back Sherri Shepherd full-time to pick up the slack."
