The Vampire Diaries' Michael Malarkey revealed he and Ian Somerhalder had a photo booth sesh that took their bromance to an uncomfortable level.

After seven seasons of playing a vampire, there's no doubt Somerhalder has gotten used to biting his costars. But apparently, he's also up for it during sneak attacks with the cameras aren't rolling.

During the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Malarkey told E! News, "he gave me a hickey this week in Vegas."

Malarkey added, "I tried to cover it up a little bit, and it's just kind of a hard thing to explain to the Mrs."

But he did try to explain it to reporters. "We were just messing around in the photo op booth because we had a convention in Vegas. Ian said everyone needs a little bit of Malarkey, and then he took a bite out of my neck."

Hmm, interesting.

Malarkey was even so insecure about the mark on his neck that he made Somerhalder record a video explaining the incident to Malarkey's wife so that she knew the mark was caused by a joke gone wrong rather than some Vegas debauchery.

And while Malarkey and Somerhalder might be keeping the bromance alive offscreen, you can expect their Vampire Diaries characters to be anything but chummy in the upcoming Season 7.

We'll find out how Damon will deal with life after Elena (Nina Dobrev), while Malarkey's character Enzo will be making some "big decisions," according to E!.

Meanwhile, Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie in the series, told us during the Audi Emmys Party that Season 7 will be "edgy as hell" and that the new promo "doesn't even show all the good shit."

"There's so much crazy, sexy sex and violence," Graham added. "You're in for it. It's a wild ride for sure."

The Vampire Diaries returns Oct. 8 on The CW.
