Man Crush Monday: Patrick Schwarzenegger steps out of his parents’ shadow

What do you get when you cross a Kennedy with a blockbusting on-screen action hero/governator? A whole lot of hotness, apparently.

Patrick Schwarzenegger may be the son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and maybe he became a household name because of his relationship with a certain pop star, but now he seems to be focused on making a name for himself in his own right.

Here’s why we are crushing on Schwarzenegger and think he deserves a little attention on his own.

Schwarzenegger definitely seems to be honoring his father’s side of the gene pool by taking on the entertainment industry. His classic good looks have earned him modeling campaigns with Ralph Lauren, Armani, Tom Ford and Hudson Jeans.

But Schwarzenegger doesn’t intend on falling back on modeling as his only career option. He’s also forging a path as an actor and has already had small roles in movies like Benchwarmers and Grown Ups 2. He has several projects in the works, and it was just announced this week that he will star in the highly anticipated Ryan Murphy show, Scream Queens, alongside Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Check him out in action as Romeo in Ariana Grande’s 2014 video for her song “Right There” featuring Big Sean.

His grandmother and JFK’s sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded the Special Olympics in 1968, and Schwarzenegger participates in events with the organization today.

He’s also active with Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization founded by his uncle, Anthony Shriver, which serves as a “global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-on-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” according to the Best Buddies website.

In addition to the Special Olympics and Best Buddies being part of his life, he also has a tradition of feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving.

Schwarzenegger also started a philanthropic clothing company at the tender age of 15. His brand, Project360, seeks to bring awareness to important global issues, like Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and children in need, and a portion of the proceeds is donated to worthy causes. He’s said in the past that he took on his high-profile modeling campaigns to draw more attention to his own business project.

Listen to a then 17-year-old Schwarzenegger talk about Project360 here.

Let’s be real here, it’s obvious that Schwarzenegger loves to party, travel and live a fabulous playboy lifestyle. He did date Miley Cyrus, after all. But he’s young, single, gorgeous and rich — can you blame him?

That being said, it’s also clear he takes time out of his busy social calendar to spend time with his family.
