Lance Bass shares thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner's gay marriage remarks (VIDEO)
Caitlyn Jenner has had a positive impact on the world in many ways, but her recent comments about being a "traditionalist" have sparked a massive backlash.
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jenner revealed she had not always been pro-gay marriage. She said, "I have to admit that I remember 15 years ago, 20 years ago whenever it was the whole gay marriage issue came up at first, I was not for it! I thought, 'I'm a traditionalist…' I kind of like tradition, and [marriage] it has always between a man and a woman. And I'm thinking, 'I don't quite get it....'"
Many people were initially taken aback by Jenner's comments on gay marriage, even though she proclaimed to have since changed her stance. But on Wednesday, during an appearance on The Meredith Vieira Show, Lance Bass — who's 2014 wedding to longtime love Michael Turchin was filmed on American TV — weighed in on Jenner's comments.
"What I don't get is, she's sitting there in Givenchy, full makeup saying, 'I'm a traditionalist,'" the former *NSYNC star said. "I'm like 'What?'"
He continued, "But I do have to give her some room, too, because even when I came out, I still caught myself saying, 'Oh, she's so hot. Like doing that thing you trained yourself to do for so many years. So I think we should give her a little room to grow."
"And if you've had a belief system for so long, it takes time," Meredith Vieira added.
