RHOBH's Kim Richards lands in hot water with the law for a troubling reason
Kim Richards has landed in trouble with the law, again, but the reason for her latest arrest is truly shocking.
A new TMZ report has revealed that the former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star spent Sunday night in jail after she was allegedly arrested for shoplifting. Richards was in a Target in Southern California when she was apprehended by a security guard for scooping a "bunch of items" worth more than $600.
The store then called the police, who took Richards into custody and booked her around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night. Her bail was set at $5,000, and she was released from jail on Monday afternoon.
Unfortunately, this is the second time this year that Richards has found herself in trouble with the law. In April, she was arrested for appearing intoxicated outside a Beverly Hills, California, hotel, after which she entered an alcoholic rehabilitation center — there are no reports to suggest she was under the influence when she arrested over the weekend.
Fans will no doubt be surprised that Richards has been busted for shoplifting items amounting to $600, and her ex-husband, G. Monty Brinson, has expressed his shock during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver," he said. "I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol- or drug-related."
While Richards' brush with the law is troubling, she's dealing with some painful things in her life at the moment, including the fact that her ex-husband, Monty, is dying.
