Fans were surprised to learn that The Bachelorette‘s Britt Nilsson and her beau, Brady Toops, had called it quits. But what were the reasons for the couple parting ways?

Well, Toops decided it was about time he shared this news with fans, and he took to Instagram to post a picture of himself and Britt, as well as a very lengthy caption about what went wrong — and seriously, if you don’t already love this guy, you’re about to.
“Since I wasn’t on ‘Men Tell All’ to clear things up, and since a lot of people have been asking lately, ‘If you & @brittkarolina are saying such nice things about each other, then WHY didn’t it work out?'” Toops began.
The musician then went on to make a list of the four reasons why his relationship didn’t work out, the first being that the media failed them when they didn’t give them a celebrity nickname.

“1. We had no real celebrity couple mashup name.. Britt(y), Brad(itt). See, there was almost no chance. This was probably the beginning of the end when we realized this,” Toops joked.
Next? Well, they obviously can’t be together if they have the same cripplingly fears.
“2. Britt is afraid of heights, and not only am I afraid of heights, but I’m actually afraid of her being afraid of heights. That obviously couldn’t work,” he wrote.
No. 3, well, life is tough without roses….
“3. Once we left the show, they didn’t give us any roses. How are we suppose to figure this thing out without any roses? [for you haters out there, I did actually buy her flowers..].”

And the last reason things just weren’t meant to be?
“4. Apparently I needed some more inspiration for my next record, because we all know that break-up records are the records you can’t stop listening to (ex. Sam Smith – ‘In the Lonely Hour’, Adele – ’21’, Coldplay – ‘Ghost Stories’). Stay tuned,” Toops wrote.
He then ended his message with a lovely mention about what a special lady Britt is — and can we just say, things might not have worked out between Britt and him, but he’s certainly not going to have a shortage of women after him, thanks to his killer sense of humor.
“Anyway, I hope this helps. Even though it’s sad that Britt & I are no longer together, I want to thank everyone for all the love & support you’ve shown us. She’s a special girl and deserves nothing but the best. I’m glad we’re still friends (notice the side hug in the pic). Peace & Love!” he concluded.
