Once Upon a Time Season 5: A new king is set to rule Storybrooke
There is a king coming to Storybrooke, and he could play a major role in Emma's story.
Get ready to spend some quality time in Camelot, Once Upon A Time fans. Entertainment Weekly revealed exclusively that the ABC show has found its King Arthur. British actor Liam Garrigan (Strike Back, 24: Live Another Day) is stepping into the iconic role. In true OUAT fashion, King Arthur won't be exactly the way you remember him.
The show is planning twists for not only King Arthur, but all of the Camelot characters who are set to play a role in Season 5. Lancelot (Sinqua Walls) is returning, and the show will also be introducing Merlin — the only character who can save Emma from the Dark One's curse. There's a good chance Guinevere will show up as well, although there has been no casting news on her yet.
Camelot provides OUAT with a rich playground to explore. Not only is the introduction of Merlin promising (more magic is always fun), but Arthurian romance is always worth swooning over. One of the eligible ladies of Storybrooke will have to fall for King Arthur, right? Just look at Garrigan's smoldering eyes. As an added bonus, he's a king, so Snow and Charming might have to defer to his royal expertise. After all, Merlin is the only person who can save Emma, and he's always been tight with Arthur. Seeing the royal duo play nice with Arthur to save their daughter could prove to be awesome.
OUAT Season 5 premieres Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c on ABC.
