Ariel Winter was asked to prom in the most unromantic way ever (VIDEO)

Ariel Winter‘s prom looked like something that fit nicely in the Modern Family world, with all sorts of awkward hilarity that comes with being a teen. Except, this time, it was real life.

The young actress shared the experience on Instagram. Her boyfriend, Laurent Claude Gaudette, asked her to attend prom with him by having someone jump “out of a box pelting flowers at me and holding up a prom sign.”

Just what every girl wants: flowers… a whole bouquet of them pelted at your face. Now that’s love.

But Winter took it all in stride, laughing the entire time and adding to her Instagram post a sweet “I love you” message for Gaudette.

It’s so awkward, it’s adorable.

Of course, it looks like her date pulled out all the romantic stops on the actual day, including the wrist corsage, which Winter showed off in her stunning pictures, looking like the exact opposite of her nerdy Modern Family character, Alex Dunphy.

Winter wore a plunging, full-length black lace and nude dress that looked absolutely gorgeous on the young actress. She and her boyfriend, “Shmoopberry” as she refers to him, make quite the pair!

But Winter recently explained to People that she has trouble finding dresses to fit her body. “It’s interesting, because I’m very young, but I have a more mature body. So it’s a blessing and a curse. I have to find things that are appropriate to wear but also fit my body well, so it still looks good.”

We say: Mission accomplished.

And, of course, the parents were there to see them off (and probably take the pictures). Winter also shared this sweet image with her dad, Glenn Workman.
