Sadly, another cute Hollywood couple bites the dust.
Bradley Cooper and Suki Waterhouse, who had been dating since March of 2013, have decided to call off their relationship, according to E! Cooper was seen out and about in Las Vegas Wednesday night with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller, possibly dancing away his post-breakup blues.
Neither Cooper nor Waterhouse’s reps have commented on the news, and the entertainers themselves are mum on the subject so far, so no concrete reasons for the split have been made public yet. However, we’ve come up with some theories as to why the couple has reportedly gone their separate ways.

1. Their age difference
Waterhouse was born in 1992 and Cooper was born in 1975 (both, coincidentally, on Jan. 5), putting them at about a 17-year age gap, which is roughly the same age difference as Katie Holmes and her ex-husband Tom Cruise. Sometimes huge age differences work, but this under-two-decade gap might fall in a weird sweet spot, especially considering Waterhouse is in her early 20s and Cooper is in his late 30s. Cooper’s got enough years on her for them to have generational differences, but he’s still young enough that he hasn’t really mellowed out fully in order to appreciate the vibes of someone who is still in the early stages of adulthood.
2. She’s focusing on her career
Waterhouse is busy celebrating the upcoming release of her first major motion picture effort, Insurgent, which hits theaters this Friday. It’s also clear by viewing her Instagram account that she’s still actively pursuing her modeling career. Obviously, Cooper is serious about his career as well, but he hit his stride long ago, whereas Waterhouse is at that crucial stage that could make or break her future status as a major star. The work of maintaining a healthy relationship is difficult for anyone who’s going full steam ahead in building their business.

3. He’s ready for a family
Last September, Cooper admitted to Square Mile magazine that he wanted to be a dad someday soon. “I’m sorry my father won’t be around to see his grandchildren, but he knows fatherhood was something I was looking forward to,” he explained. “That’s my next big step in life.” This may be a byproduct of both their age difference and departure in career status, but it’s totally possible that Waterhouse isn’t at the point in her life to think about having children and Cooper is.
4. They live in different countries
Waterhouse spends most of her time in her native country, England, while Cooper is based out of the United States. Anyone who’s ever been in a long-distance relationship knows what a strain it can be. Add the pressures of Hollywood life and you’ve kind of got a recipe for disaster. It’s possible staying close while living so far away just proved to be too much of a burden.
5. He’s filming with Jennifer Lawrence, who he’s rumored to have sparks with
Cooper is currently filming Joy with frequent collaborator Jennifer Lawrence, who gossip mills have also romantically linked him to. Though both parties deny they ever dated, could this be the film that will finally have the Mr. and Mrs. Smith effect? It could be a concern for Waterhouse. We also now know that Lawrence is into older men, considering her recent involvement with Chris Martin.
6. She wasn’t happy in the relationship
Total speculation here, but Waterhouse posted a somewhat cryptic Instagram two weeks ago about having the power to control how a story will end. Maybe the relationship had just run its course.

7. She’s more into girl power at this point in her life
Many of us have been in a place where we would rather just bond with our girlfriends than worry about fostering a serious relationship. It could be that’s where Waterhouse is at, and the actress/model is definitely giving out the feminist vibe on Instagram.
