Believe it or not, there are actually people in the world who don’t swoon over Ryan Gosling. We legitimately assumed even lesbians and straight men had secret crushes on Gosling. One super-sweet SXSW moment proved us wrong, though.

Ryan Gosling is in Austin, Texas, this weekend promoting his directorial debut Lost River and, of course, even the SXSW hipsters aren’t immune to his sweetness, charm and floppy blond hair. Or at least that’s what we thought until his Lost River panel ended with a tearjerker proposal.
Gosling was joined on the stage by Christina Hendricks and Saoirse Ronan for a panel on his new film and he did a decent job of staying on topic. That was, of course, until the moderator opened up time for a Q&A. One female fan (and hopeless romantic) waited until most others had had their turns and Gosling’s time was almost up before taking the microphone to ask a question. However, after complimenting Gosling on his film, she quickly found herself overcome with emotion. No, she wasn’t swooning over Gosling. She was just head over heels for the gorgeous girlfriend at her side.

“I think your film was amazing and I’m going to kind of take away from it for a bit if I can and ask my girlfriend of 11 years if she’ll marry me,” stated the overwhelmed festivalgoer.
Gosling, in all his cuteness, seemed to swoon just as much as the crowd and quickly came to the aid of the woman asking for her girlfriend’s hand. He even scurried to the edge of the stage and gave her his mic so the entire audience could hear her heartfelt proposal. Her long-term partner, of course, said yes… and apologized profusely to the talent watching from their spot on the stage.
We still can’t believe there’s a single person on Earth who isn’t under Gosling’s spell. It must be true love for these lovely ladies. We’re in awe of their devotion… and a little jealous of the breadth of their love. Let’s be real: We at SheKnows would definitely trade in our partners for even just a kiss from Gosling. Are we terrible people? Uh… probably.
