That’s right: Frozen 2 has gotten the green light and will go into production soon.
The official announcement was made at the Disney annual shareholders meeting. Chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios John Lasseter said in a statement, “We enjoyed making Frozen Fever so much and being back in that world with those characters. [Directors] Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it, and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.”
What’s Frozen Fever? More on that below.
Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, was also present for the announcement.
Gad also gave a peek at what the movie title could be.
Lee and Buck will be back as directors, as will producer Peter Del Vecho.
This will be welcome news to North West, whose parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West usually dress her like a Derelique model but finally allowed her to appear in public with some semblance of childhood: a Frozen suitcase.
A release date for Frozen 2 has not been announced yet, but if you need to get your Frozen fix on, check out the premiere of Cinderella tonight — it will include an animated short called Frozen Fever, set in the same world as the original film. Check out this song from the little treat.
