On Monday, Feb. 23, the hashtag Lily and Rufus began trending worldwide on Twitter, and fans have been whipped into a frenzy by the possibility that the second-best on-screen couple (sorry, but Chuck and Blair win) may actually be a couple — even if they didn’t end up together at the end of the series.
Gossip Girl fans will agree that these two would be so perfect together, and judging by these awesome pictures of them, there’s a good chance that the rumors could actually be true.
They spent Valentine’s Day together. It’s the holiday of love, and traditionally you’re meant to spend it with the one you love, so, could this mean they are in love?
Is that a mini bottle of Moët & Chandon we see there? And candles? And roses? This picture is certainly setting a romantic scene.
Rutherford and Settle are not afraid to show a little affection, as is evident in this cute pic.
They are also so at ease in each other’s company. Plus, check out that hashtag “missingmatt.” It’s evident they are pretty fond of each other.
Rutherford is not the only one doing the missing, though — have you noticed that pretty much every caption these two write about each other has a little heart emoji in it?
Judging by their Instagram accounts, it appears that Rutherford and Settle spend a lot of time together. And they’re even happy to just relax and play a game of chess together.
Settle tagged Rutherford in this pic and captioned it, “things are never black and white.” Does this prove they are dating? No, but it does prove that they are very content in each other’s company.
Lastly, could we just point out that chances are slim that someone would share a kissing picture (yes, it’s of their character’s) with the sweetest quote, “I could watch you for a single minute and find a thousand things that I love about you,” if they were nothing but friends. Right?
We already know pretty much the whole of Twitter wants Rutherford and Settle to be dating, but could it be true? We hope so!
