Nicki Minaj crew stabbing: What we know so far
Nicki Minaj revealed Wednesday morning on Instagram that two members of her stage crew were stabbed.
The story left the online community in shock as details have started to emerge about the events that left one man dead and another seriously injured. TMZ identified the man who died as De'Von Pickett, a stage hand for Minaj. The other victim, Eric Parker, remains in critical condition, though police say he is expected to survive.
According to Minaj, the men were in Philadelphia rehearsing for her upcoming tour. TMZ is reporting that the fight broke out in the early hours of the morning at Che Bar & Grill in Philadelphia.
While the argument began in the bar, the men took it outside on the sidewalk where the stabbing occurred, according to a local NBC news affiliate.
Police also told the local NBC affiliate that they were looking for a suspect, a male believed to be around 30 years old. He was last seen driving in a gray Buick LeSabre.
There is a chance that surveillance cameras around the business captured the incident, at least in part. But investigators are still looking into the footage.
Just yesterday, Pickett posted a series of positive tweets on his page. He seemed to post the uplifting messages regularly on his page in the mornings.
Minaj will be performing on the upcoming tour with her boyfriend Meek Mill, who is originally from Philadelphia. No word yet if these ties to the city played a part in leading to the violence.
