Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have celebrated the birth of their daughter in a very permanent way: with tattoos!
The Teen Mom couple decided that the only proper way to mark the very special occasion of little Novalee Reign’s birth was with ink. Baltierra went big and old, while Lowell’s choice was decidedly sweeter.
Dad got “NOVALEE” drawn inside the Batman symbol on his bicep, explaining, “Thanks to @lancekellarstudios I finally got my Novalee tattoo! Thanks guys, it is exactly what I wanted! A representation that I will always protect her.”
Unfortunately, people were razzing him about the design so hard that he decided to remove the image from his Instagram — but you can still see it on the couple’s website.
Lowell’s own choice of design is super cute: Novalee’s little footprint on top of her own foot. She posted a pic of the tattooist’s mock-up before he went to work.

Novalee is the couple’s second child. They placed oldest daughter, Carly, now 5, up for adoption at birth and the adoptive parents agreed to an open arrangement, allowing the couple to remain in contact with Carly. In fact, they all remain so close that Carly’s adoptive parents gave them an incredibly special gift for Novalee:
