Spread its radiance to your dessert table by turning everyone’s favourite centrepiece into cute Christmas tree cupcakes with a rich chocolate centre and a velvety vanilla buttercream frosting.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams sugar
  • 250 grams plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • Pinch salt
  • 250 grams butter (at room temperature)
  • 4 medium eggs
  • 1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.

In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt.

Add the butter and mix. If you don’t have a dust guard, place a clean towel over the top of the bowl and use your mixer’s lowest speed setting.

Turn the mixer off when the mixture turns crumbly.

Add the eggs, Greek yoghurt and vanilla essence and mix them until they’re well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as you go.

Spoon the mixture into cupcake forms until they’re about half full.

Bake the cupcakes at 200 degrees C for 15-20 minutes. You can tell they’re ready when a wooden skewer comes out clean. Allow them to cool completely.
