And they thought a portrayal of Julia Gillard having sex and relaxing post-coitus under an Australian flag was scandalous.

With long hair flowing and multiple tattoos exposed, Ruby Rose, 25, is seen with one arm across her breasts and a hand covering her Map of Tassie. The accompanying title is “Ruby Rose reveals her NAKED ambition.” The magazine went on sale Thursday.

The model and MTV DJ did the shoot along with PETA, which she says she’s been involved with for a while. The shoot took place in the Sydney northern beaches town of Mosman.

It’s a banner week for PETA, as the animal rights group got involved with controversy over an Australia’s Next Top Model shoot.

In the episode, which saw the elimination of contestant Yolanda Hodgson, the Top 10 wore fur as part of a nature-themed shoot. The contestants also had to pose as various elements like water and air. Ruby Rose says the show could have found an alternative to using real fur.

“They could have so easily used faux fur and even a lot of heavy hitters in fashion avoid fur. It’s unacceptable in this day and age and in most people’s eyes and it saddens me that this can still occur,” she said in a Herald Sun interview.
