Hold on to your helmets, LOTR fans — you may need them if excessive elven violence and buckets of orc blood make you queasy.
This six-minute smash-cut of every death scene in Lord of the Rings has got our heads spinning! We knew Peter Jackson’s masterpiece was full of some of the finest battle scenes ever CGId into being, but we had no idea just how many men, dwarves, elves, orcs and Uruk-hai met their ends before our eyes.
But now we do, thanks to the team at Digg.
If you’re like us, you’re going to sit through every sword-wrenching moment with a bit of a grimace on your face, but you’ll cheer at all the right places. And when all is said and done, you’ll have a new fun fact to add to your LOTR trivia — you’ll know just how many lives it took to destroy the Ring.
And we’re going to be honest with you: it’s a lot.
The video keeps a running tally of deaths at the bottom of the screen, along with helpful text identifying each scene along the way. Seeing the tally go down when Gandalf returns was a particularly charming touch to the otherwise brutal montage of carnage.
