Actor Ken Weatherwax, who starred as the original Pugsley Addams on the spooky TV show The Addams Family has died at the age of 59.
Weatherwax died on Sunday, Dec. 7, and his niece, Shanyn Vieira, announced his death via Facebook, Us Weekly reports.
“Just want to let you know that my uncle Ken Weatherwax who played Pugsley from The Addams Family died today from a heart attack,” she shared with her followers. “So when you hear the theme song, please think of me!!!”
According to TMZ, the former child star died at his California home on Sunday after suffering a heart attack.
Weatherwax is widely known for the role of Pugsley, and he first starred in the original TV series from 1964 until 1966 as the son of Gomez and Morticia Addams (played by John Astin and Carolyn Jones).
After the original show, he went on to become the voice of Pugsley in the ’70s animated version of the show. He also played the role of Pugsley Sr. in the TV movie Halloween With the New Addams Family.
In addition to his role as Pugsley Addams, Weatherwax also served in the U.S. Army and later went on to become a set builder and studio grip. He also continued to make appearances at fans’ conventions.
Weatherwax is survived by a brother and a niece and nephew. The family revealed to TMZ that two funerals will be held for the late star, one for his family and one for his friends. Our thoughts are with Weatherwax’s family and friends during this sad time.
