Rosario Dawson has recently added a new title to her impressive résumé filled with philanthropy, blockbuster films and political activism: the title of mother.
Sources have confirmed that Dawsonwelcomed into her home a 12-year-old girl back in October. The beautiful and talented actress joins the ranks of many other celebrity adoptive parents you may know such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and some you might not, such as Sheryl Crow and Babe Ruth.
Adoption is something that is near and dear to Dawson’s heart. She was adopted by her mother’s boyfriend, as he dated her mom when she was eight months pregnant. She said it was this loving act that inspired her to want to adopt children herself and she has often spoken about how important her family is to her. In an interview with Latina magazine back in 2008, she said, “My mother and grandmother are extraordinary women, and they’re getting older. It struck me recently that one day I might be sitting around with my children going, ‘Your grandma was such an amazing woman; I really wish you could’ve known her.’ That makes me sad ’cause it would be a waste to not have these people known each other.” Dawson is not the only celebrity with at least one adoptive parent. She is among the ranks of Jersey Shore star (and new mom and wife) Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas and former president Bill Clinton.
Dawson is best known for her roles in Rent and Frank Miller’s Sin City and is reportedly “over the moon” about being a mom. In addition to having a new daughter, Dawson has kept busy with many offscreen endeavors. She recently joined forces with Quarterly, curating her own subscription boxes of beautiful handpicked items that are “meant to inspire.”
