Smashing Pumpkins has just released a new single off their upcoming album Monuments to an Elegy. Take a listen and see if it’s worth all the hype!
What do you mean you haven’t heard the new Smashing Pumpkins single? Shame on you!
The band’s frontman, Billy Corgan, has been pumping up their newest album Monuments to an Elegy since spring, promising a reinvented sound with a heavier reliance on guitars. The Smashing Pumpkins finally released the long awaited first single off the record on Monday called “Being Beige.” Take a listen and see if this is a good appetizer for the band’s new album.
What did you think? We can definitely hear a shift in the sound, but we can’t say this is as drastic as we hoped. But being suckers for the band, this is obviously amazing. We would even listen to Corgan just reading us a bedtime story. Monuments to an Elegy is the band’s 10th album and second instalment of the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope album cycle, which includes Smashing Pumpkins’ 2012 album Oceania, this record and Day for Night, which will be released in 2015.
So, are you excited to hear the rest of Monuments to an Elegy, which comes out on Dec. 9, or were you put off by the first single? We’re pretty pumped.
