Who knew Elle Fanning would look even better as a brunette?

Elle Fanning has recently debuted a brand new hair colour and it looks fantastic. The actress dyed her blonde locks a darker shade of brown, officially proving that she is indeed perfect.

If ever there was a genetic pool of flawlessness — the Fannings are it. We all know that Dakota Fanning is a goddess, who can do no wrong. Now, her little sister Elle is coming fast behind her, spreading joy and gorgeousness everywhere she goes. Oh, the cruelty and injustice of life.

The 16-year-old Maleficent actress, much like her sister, has been gifted with stunning blonde hair and a perfect complexion, which you would think would be impossible to outdo… But it ain’t so. Fanning debuted a darker (and shorter) mane at the premiere of The Boxtrolls and she looks even more radiant than before. Our reaction to this giant slap of the universe across our faces looked pretty much like this:

What the what? Not only is Elle a beautiful and delicate human being, who — we swear to almighty Zeus — looks like a real-life faerie, but it also turns out she’s versatile? No. No, no, no, no, no. Stop it. Just, stop it. In all honesty, Fanning dyed her hair for a movie role and not to spite us, although it seems like it.

This is a great example of how to go from blonde to brunette; Fanning’s shade is not dark enough to be too severe and light enough to maintain her youthful disposition. Plus, this hue really brings out her eyes and complements her skin. So, if you’re in a pickle and looking to dye your hair — this colour is Elle Fanning-approved.

What do you think? Do you like Elle as a brunette or a blonde?
