Doc, are they selling the hoverboard? You bet your sweet bum they are. Now even a commoner such as yourself can own Marty McFly’s iconic hoverboard from Back to the Future II! If you have an extra $20,000 rolling around in them pockets, that is.
The legendary film prop, along with several other pieces of film memorabilia, will be auctioned off at the Vue cinema in London’s Westfield Shopping Centre in October. The hoverboard is being valued between $17,000 and $26,000. It’s made out of wood and, disappointingly enough, does not actually hover — without the use of imagination, at least.
If you do have a giant wad of cash stashed somewhere in your mattress but are uncertain about making this kind of purchase, are you crazy? Just do it. For the love of Michael J. Fox! For the love of all that is good and pure in this world! Don’t worry, we have a few pretty compelling arguments to make our case (in case you’re not convinced yet):
1. You can pretend to do this

2. You’ll own a relic
Let’s be honest: Back to the Future will never be uncool or out of style. The hoverboard will always be the awesomest prop ever. You have the opportunity to own it, so seize the day!
3. Life will be better
It’s either you have a bunch of money or you own Marty McFly’s hoverboard. Come on. The answer is simple. You will be the envy of millions of fans all over the world. Life will be brighter. Birds will chirp more beautifully. You know what you have to do.
Other items being auctioned off include the golden ticket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Captain Nemo’s Nautilus Car from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
What do you think? Are you ready to make an investment of a lifetime?
